You call that a picket line?

June 20, 2011

Striking employees on picket lines in Saskatoon make me laugh.  Have you see the HSAS members on strike around RUH or up on Eighth Street?  Don’t blink or you might miss them.  They set up tables for snacks and beverages then they picket for an hour or so before packing up and going home.

I remember Firestone employees on strike in Des Moines.  They picketed around the clock for weeks.

Who’s up next for the ever-expanding list of striking unions?  Where, when and for how long will they be picketing?

And where are all of those Canada Post employees?

Don’t ya know Michele, it’s tough when they have multiple sites plus cabinet minister’s offices to cover.

Honestly? I suspected that the only ones that would be noticeably missing were the pharmacists. Not many people are going to notice if the Dieticians and Psychologists and whoever else are missing. Hate to tell them that, but they should probably do what SAHO asked and take the offer back to their members.

Gormley had an interesting point today when he pointed out that unions that aren’t hostile to the government of the day generally settle for…. what the government is currently offering… It’s only when a government they are hostile to is in power that they go above and beyond to make up for the past. One would think that they should either push the NDP harder or hope that the SK Party gets power more often so that they can extract more and more often.

Ooops… I didn’t see the picture before I posted that… do they feel undervalued and underappreciated now?

    🙂
