Do all moms have breast cancer?

May 9, 2011

More pink?  More?  It’s not even October!

Major League Baseball went pink for Mother’s Day.

MLB players wore pink shirts and shoes and used pink bats.  Pink was everywhere.  In fact, isn’t that a pink base in the above photo or is that normal?

The vast majority of women will never get breast cancer.  Ever.  So why does Mother’s Day need to be acknowledged in this way?  I also sincerely wish that the color pink had never been co-opted in this way.

Could we please just leave Mother’s Day alone and not link it to the breast cancer propaganda and fundraising machine?  And please tell me that we’re not going to see Father’s Day turned into a prostate cancer event.  Please.
