Chinese mothers

January 11, 2011

I read this article about Chinese mothers in the WSJ.  It’s written by a Chinese mother detailing just how Chinese parents practically force their children to succeed.  My first thought was “Holy crap.  I could not do that.”  Second, this explains a lot of what I’ve observed.  And then I remembered a guest on Charles Adler who was discussing comparisons between academic test scores in Canada and Asian countries.  He said “They’re good at school.  We’re good at life.”

And I’ll leave it to the brilliant Kathy Shaidle to sum it up:

“PLUS: note that the concrete outcome of Chinese parenting styles is that now hundreds of Asians have been perfectly groomed to go work for two white college dropout billionaires…”
