Bush can’t win. Subtitle: Lauer can’t give up.

November 3, 2010

For Pete’s sake.  Will this never end?

Matt Lauer asked former President George W. Bush about Kanye West’s remarks during a post-Katrina fundraiser:

Says Bush: “That’s — ‘he’s a racist.’ And I didn’t appreciate it then. I don’t appreciate it now. It’s one thing to say, ‘I don’t appreciate the way he’s handled his business.’ It’s another thing to say, ‘This man’s a racist.’ I resent it, it’s not true, and it was one of the most disgusting moments in my Presidency.”  (USAToday)

I’m not surprised by Bush’s response.  When I saw the clip of Kanye claiming that “George Bush doesn’t care about black people”, I was disgusted as well.

Lauer continues the interview by reading from Bush’s book where he calls the moment “an all time low”.  Lauer than  accuses Bush of caring more about being personally insulted than he cared about the Katrina victims.

That is patently absurd.  Has Lauer never been in a bad situation and then have that one extra crappy thing happen that makes you feel just that much worse?  A situation where you thought you were as low as you can get and then someone kicks you?

Why even bother giving interviews to some of these perpetually biased media?

Bush will have to be consolidated by simply having a #1 best seller and giving Lauer the highest ratings he’s had in years.

Whereas long in the future, any reference will provoke, at best, the following response: “Who?”

I meant, “any reference to Kanye”.

But “Matt Lauer” would also suffice.
