Never, ever label the brain.

October 4, 2010

Uh oh.

A young man in New York died in a car accident.  Two months later, students from his high school were visiting the Medical Examiner’s office and saw his brain in a jar labelled with his NAME.

Seriously.  What were they thinking?  Always, always, always use a specially assigned number.

This should have never happened but why is the family suing?  It won’t bring him back and the crappy publicity will force the ME office to promptly remove identifying information from all publicly displayed tissue samples.  Isn’t that enough?
