Terrorists in Saskatoon?

August 30, 2010

Actual terrorists?  That’s an interesting question.

Why does this matter?  More men have been arrested in Ontario and charged with planning terrorist attacks in Canada and CSIS is watching 200 suspected terrorists in Canada.

Newstalk650 recently asked “Do you believe that there are homegrown terrorists in your community?” and the results are surprising.  57% of respondents said “yes” to that question.

I don’t like internet surveys because they are definitely not random and completely biased.  I also don’t like them because they tend to be worded strangely or don’t have enough answer options or don’t have enough questions.

I would ask a series of questions.  Are there people in your community who sympathize with terrorists?  Are there people in your community who are likely to be recruited by terrorists?  Are there people in your community who would go to other countries to fight with terrorists against Canadian soldiers?  Are there people in your community who are planning terrorist activities in your community?

My answers?  Yes.  Yes.  Probably.  No. I hope not.

What are your answers?

And while you guys are at it answer these questions as well…are there people in your community who sympathize with the Muslims being killed/persecuted by Americans IN THEIR OWN COUNTRIES? Are there people in your community willing to go to Iraq (WHO HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11) and fight beside the Americans? Are there people in your community who would go to other countries to fight against innocent citizens of those countries alongside the American/Canadian soldiers? NO, yes and yes.

And to answer your 4 questions with 2 questions, have you even thought WHY this is happening, does the west’s middle east policy got anything to do with it? shouldn’t the Canadian soldiers stay put in Canada and don’t do everything big brother asks them to do?

With respect to your first question, Michele, it looks like your guess has been confirmed.

Oh, please. Do you read/see/listen to most of the media here? The answer to your first question is “yes.” There are many people here who sympathize with the Islamists and terrorists. Too many.

And, yes, there are Canadians and Americans willing to fight to protect our countries from terrorist attacks. Finally, no, the soldiers aren’t fighting against innocent citizens. They are fighting terrorists.

Why don’t you answer my four questions with four answers? How would you answer NewsTalk650’s question? Are there homegrown terrorists in Saskatoon? Or in your community?

Once again, for someone who is SO particular about grammar, there is no such thing as an Islamist! I wonder what would you call a Buddhist? A Buddhistist?

My first question was not about sympathizing with terrorists.

OUR countries? 9/11 had NOTHING TO DO WITH CANADA!

And do YOU read the newspaper, civilians were/are being killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“Leaked Video Shows Civilians Killed in Iraq”:

And to answer your questions, a VERY SMALL MINORITY, no, no and no.

On the issue of home grown terrorists, the riot that just happened in Vancouver was planned in advance. ‘Roiters’ showed up with goggles and gas bombs before looting stores.

I haven’t seen any photos documenting that rumor.

Many of the rioters that I saw in videos and photos were wearing hockey jerseys.
