Fight the war to win or go home.

August 8, 2010

This is one of a long list of partial posts and saved links that I’ve been thinking about but not writing about.

I was supportive of the war in Afghanistan but that was when it had a definite goal (defeat the Taliban/terrorists).

American soldiers are stationed at strategically unimportant remote outposts without sufficient supportRules of engagement prevent soldiers from defending themselves and achieving the goal of defeating the terrorists.

To win a war, we need to let the military fight the war without being micro-managed by politicians.  There will be civilian casualties when the enemy hides among the civilians.  We can’t completely avoid civilian casualties while fighting a war.  If we want to completely avoid civilian casualties, we should leave Afghanistan.  And we should leave immediately.

And then we should shut down our borders to keep terrorists out.

I just cleaned out my draft posts this afternoon too. Some of them I lost interest in writing about.

I also agree about the Taliban war in Afghanistan- given tangible goals and proper equipment, it should have been a rout – now the peaceniks are holding us back from success, ultimately resulting in a self-defeat.

    It’s so insanely frustrating.

Even Petraus says “meeting and understanding the people is the main mission for military forces.”

The main mission for the military should be to defeat the enemy.
