Dear VWAG: Please make it stop!

June 18, 2010

I can’t take it anymore.   Have you heard the latest commercials for the Vaughn Wyant Automotive Group in Saskatoon?

If you buy a car, you can get a free grill.  The promotion is called “Grillz gone wild.”  Ha ha.  Get it?  Grills?  And it doesn’t stop there … they also refer to “grills” as the jeweled tooth covers worn by some people in the hip hop culture.

Oh, yes.  Can you see it coming?  The radio ad features some guy (a Wyant?) saying that the free grill is worth “Fi fiddy.  Hear dat.  Belee dat.  Fo real.

A white guy from Saskatoon mocking/mimicking an inner-city American dialect?  Why?!!!

Make it stop!  Please.

I do sometimes listen to CBC until it makes me scream.
