Miranda Rights

May 6, 2010

I actually agree with Glenn Beck.  Shocking.

Faisal Shahzad, the Times Square bomber, was read his Miranda Rights after his arrest.  Some have argued that this was a mistake since he could have then exercised his rights against self-incrimination and demanded an attorney.

He had to be reminded of his rights.  He is an American citizen.  I would argue that he should not have become a citizen so quickly or so easily but he is a citizen and, as a citizen, he had to be read his rights.

And now he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.  No plea bargains should be made.  And, as a citizen who plotted terrorist attacks on other American citizens, he should be charged with treason.
