It’s working.

Heh.  Katie Couric thinks that the new Arizona immigration law is bad because it make illegal immigrants feel unwelcome.

Good.  That’s what it’s supposed to do.

I’m stunned at the response to this law.  How is it racist to expect people to follow the law?  To immigrate to a country, you have to apply for permission from the government.  I did it to move to Canada.  I filled out forms, paid fees, had security checks, and had a medical exam.  I waited for approval and didn’t move until I had the appropriate paperwork.  Now, when I leave the country, I have to take my permanent resident card with me so that I will be allowed back into Canada.  If it were required, I would carry the card with me at all times.  (The only reason that I don’t now is that I’m afraid that I’ll lose it!)  Mark Steyn carries his papers with him.  Why shouldn’t other immigrants?
