Congressional Priorities

April 27, 2010

Are you surprised that Congress is concerned about whale and dolphin shows? There is actually a House Subcommittee on Insular Affairs, Oceans and Wildlife.

Why are they even concerned with this?  If people are willing to work with killer whales, let them.  If people want to watch shows involving whales and dolphins, let them.  One line in the USA Today article actually made me laugh:

The animals are trained “to do stupid tricks for our amusement. We are beyond that. Our kids are beyond that,” says Louie Psihoyos, director of The Cove

We are so not “beyond that” based on the crowds attending shows at Sea World!

Too much government.
