Why stop him?

April 5, 2010

Col. Russell Williams tried to kill himself today.  Staff at the jail detention center saved him.

Why are people accused of murder and vicious sexual assault placed on “suicide watch”?  If guilt leads them to kill themselves, why do authorities have to stop them?  Even if it’s not guilt but simply an acknowledgment that they have been caught, why should we have to prevent them from taking their own lives?

Better that a murderer pay the ultimate price than that a sociopath be released in ten years to kill again.

How true, I still find it humorous that people serving time on “death row” are still alive. If you are convicted, you should be taken out back and shot. End of story. Why keep these bags of trash alive, sucking money out of the system, just to be killed later on. Is there any reason why a child rapist should still be breathing?

I think the idea is that public justice benefits society, whereas private vigilanteism doesn’t much.

How is suicide “vigilantism”? Some other individual killing him would be a vigilante act.

It would benefit society via huge cost and time savings if he killed himself. Also, victim families would not be subjected to the gory details in open court.

It would save money, but it would rob society of the right to a public demonstration of justice. Justice doesn’t impact people’s actions much if no one hears about it.

Also, if jail suicides became common, it might encourage police to murder suspects and then fake their suicides.

I agree with Fritz. Also, I believe that thinking like Fritz and I is terrible and unjust and there oughtta be a law saying that people like us should be taken out back and shot. End of story.

The world would be better – much better – without people like me a Fritz in it. Why haven’t we been arrested yet – let alone shot out back?
