The insurance companies are going to collapse.

April 5, 2010

Seriously.  If you have investments in health insurance companies, now would be a great time to get rid of them.

The new health insurance bill requires insurance companies to cover the “children” of people with employee sponsored plans.  I use quotes because “children” includes adults up to the age of 26 and even those who are MARRIED!  How can a married 26-year-old be considered a dependent?

Anyone who thinks that healthcare access can be immediately and widely expanded without increasing premiums and taxes is completely delusional.

Which insurance company do you think will be first?

On the other hand, they just picked up 30-40 million new customers without doing a thing. Besides, if they start to fail, the stupid government will step in just like GM and make it all better.

How much are those new customers going to pay and how much coverage will they receive?

The devil is always in the details.

    OH MY GOSH.
This new bill has me laughing and crying hysterically. Simultaneously. It’s going to drive me to drink. And then when I’m dead. I’ll be rolling over in my grave.
