Looks like I’m not the only one.

March 29, 2010

On Thursday, I told my husband that I hate Royal University Hospital — the hospital itself, not the people.

On Friday, the StarPhoenix published “RUH in critical condition. In an ideal world hospital would be torn down: Report.”

Dirty stairwells.

Patients on beds being wheeled through the main mall.

Lack of privacy in the emergency department.

Misspelled signs.

Elevator doors that don’t open.

Bizarrely numbered rooms.

No rhyme nor reason to the placement of departments.

Dingy lighting.

Small exam rooms.

An escalator that does not work leading to exit doors with no parking.

A literal maze of hallways and stairwells and walkways between and through buildings.

Dungeon-like lower levels.

Should we really be planning for a new Children’s Hospital Building when RUH obviously needs significant upgrades?
