A birthday cake. For Jesus. Really.

December 23, 2009

I just do not understand this phenomenon.  Someone found it necessary to create a birthday cake for Jesus and to publish detailed instructions so that others could recreate this cake.  It’s just full of symbolism:

Chocolate -represents sin

Red Velvet -represents the blood of Christ

Green -represents the new life we have in Christ

Celebrating a birth with sin and blood?  Honestly.  I find this truly bizarre.  Plus, who has time to make four crazy, detailed, 3 layer cakes during Christmas?  There has to be something better to do with one’s time to honor Jesus’ birth.  Something.

The fact that she makes fondant using mini marshmallows and Kool-Aid (!) reminded me of Sandra Lee of Kwanzaa cake fame.  You just know that I had to see what Sandra Lee is up to and I discovered the Doughnut Tree.  Yeah!  It’s a poor man’s croquembouche.  Actually, the children would probably LOVE the doughnut tree.

An intense, uncontrollable desire to make your very own Kwanzaa cake and inflict it upon your loved ones?

    Or just nauseous?
