Green Cheaters?

December 21, 2009

Kate had a link to this interesting article about “Green” shoppers:

Those who bought more green items were found in separate tests to be significantly less likely than their conventional counterparts to share money with an anonymous recipient and more likely to cheat on and lie about the results of a simple quiz.

Why do the “holier than thou” eaters of organic produce behave so badly?

I think that I know why.  They won’t share with an anonymous recipient because the money might go to someone who doesn’t deserve it — someone who is wealthy or someone who isn’t green or maybe even a climate skeptic!  Oh noes!  And they lie about it because they have to appear to be highly moral.  Appearance is everything.
