Bad Planning — Check your blueprints.

October 5, 2009

This reminds me of our last house.

epic-fail-circuit-breaker-fail

We purchased a brand new house and the basement was partially finished with a roughed in bathroom.  Unfortunately, the electrical panel was placed in the corner right next to the shower and toilet plumbing.  Seriously.  I know why it was put there … convenience for the installer because that corner of the house was closest to the SaskPower box outside.

The lesson to be learned from this is to keep a close eye on everything when you are having a house built.  We didn’t because we didn’t know any better.

I wonder if there are any more lessons to be learned from Fail Blog?

In my business, I’ve seen a bunch of horrible things like this, like a low, clear window that opens into the shower stall- or a sink forced to almost overhang a toilet. I wish I had started a photo file of complete bathroom failures.

    You could start a blog!

Seriously, I doubt that it would take long for you to build up a file full of bathroom and kitchen fails.
