Why should we be concerned about what’s happening in mosques?

September 11, 2009

An American man who had converted to Islam “was part of the last wave of Minnesota men who joined the violent militia al-shabaab in Somalia.”  Troy Kastigar was killed in Somalia.  (h/t Jawa Report)

This is exactly why non-Muslims should be concerned about imams and visiting speakers at local mosques.  Muslims should be concerned as well.  Are terrorists being recruited here?  Are extremist texts being used in Muslim schools and distributed via MSA on campus?

I don’t know and it’s impossible for me to know.  If Muslims know that hatred and violence are being promoted, would they try to stop it?  Would they report threats to authorities?  I certainly hope so.

It seems like you are singling out Mosques as places that breed hatred, when Churches have a propensity to do the same. Remember Rev. Wright or Jesse Jackson?

Has Rev. Wright or Jesse Jackson ever encouraged violence? I’ve never seen footage of that.

Apostasy and the requisite death sentence is unique to Islam. Recruiting suicide bombers is unique to Islam.

I’m not saying that all mosques are sites of terrorist recruitment. Some certainly are and others are at risk.

Wow, I mean really if you’re a racist against Muslims and hate Islam just have the brass to say it. You think Islam invented Terrorism? Ever heard of Timothy McVeigh, an Irish Catholic white guy that blew up an entire building and killed 168 people here in the US or the IRA who had an armed conflict with the British government for decades, they had nothing to do with Islam either. Why don’t you go and actually read a textbook you ignorant racist.

Islam didn’t invent terrorism but they are very, very good at it.

Oh and little Timmy? One guy. And an agnostic. He did not kill for his religion or religious beliefs.
