Sharing the H1N1 vaccine.

August 17, 2009

The August 4, 2009 Canadian Medical Association Journal editorial recommends that Canada reserve 10% of its H1N1 flu vaccine purchase for donation to developing countries.

They make a compelling argument that protecting people throughout the world will help to protect Canadians.  They also argue that such a plan is the ethically right thing to do.

I have two questions.  First, why only 10%?  And second, who in Canada will be selected to not receive the vaccine?

I’d love to hear that argument.
