Muslim Brotherhood influence in Saskatchewan?

April 15, 2009

The Muslim Brotherhood was founded in Egypt in 1928 by Hasan al-Banna with the goal of a fully Islamic state and ultimately the Islamization of the world and restoration of the caliphate.  What does that mean?  That everyone should live their lives according to the Quran and the Hadiths.  Sharia law for everyone.  Although they started in Egypt, the MB have influence throughout the world including North America.  As decribed in a Chicago Tribune article,

They have this idea that Muslims come first, not that humans come first,” says Mustafa Saied, 32, a Floridian who left the U.S. Brotherhood in 1998.

While separation of church and state is a bedrock principle of American democracy, the international Brotherhood preaches that religion and politics cannot be separated and that governments eventually should be Islamic. The group also champions martyrdom and jihad, or holy war, as a means of self-defense and has provided the philosophical underpinnings for Muslim militants worldwide.

RTWT.

The Muslim Brotherhood credo is “Allah is our goal; the Qur’an is our constitution; the Prophet is our leader; Struggle is our way; and death in the path of Allah is our highest aspiration.”

There are Muslim Brotherhood front groups in the United States and Canada and groups established by the MB as recruiting sources.  These include CAIR and the Muslim Student Association which was founded by members of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The Muslim Brotherhood seeks to spread Islam … not as simply a religion that some might choose to convert to but also as a political system.  A worldwide caliphate under Sharia Law starting in the Middle East.

According to the Hudson Institute,

The tactics of the Muslim Brotherhood may be nonviolent in the West and less violent than other groups in the Muslim world, but the ideology behind those tactics remains fundamentally opposed to the Western democratic system and its values.

This is from a stategy paper found in the home of an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism trial:

“The Ikhwan must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and sabotaging its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions,” it states. This process requires a “mastery of the art of ‘coalitions,’ the art of ‘absorption’ and the principles of ‘cooperation.’ ”

How much influence does the Muslim Brotherhood have in Saskatoon?  Last year, I would have answered “very little.”  Now, I’m not so sure.  I know Muslims in Saskatoon and they are no different from anyone else, no different from people of other faiths.  However, things may be changing within the Muslim community.  Consider the following:

1. The Saskatoon Muslim Foundation is sponsoring a family retreat.  One guest speaker is Dr. Ahmed Deif, an Assistant Professor of Engineering at the University of Regina and head of the Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) Youth Department.  The MAC is associated with the Muslim Brotherhood.

MAC adopts and strives to implement Islam, as embodied in the Qur’an, and the teachings of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and as understood in its contemporary context by the late Imam, Hassan Albanna, the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood. MAC regards this ideology as the best representation of Islam as delivered by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

They also promote prayer times in association with the Muslim Student Association on the U of S campus.  (See #3.)

2. Another new local Muslim group has appeared calling itself “The Third Way.”  They lament the lack of an “Hassan Al-Banna” here in Saskatoon.  Hassan Al-Banna founded the Muslim Brotherhood.  And he encouraged  jihad.  The main goal of “The Third Way” group seems to be to place the Saskatoon Misbah School at the Islamic Centre in Saskatoon.  They claim to have the same goals as a vast majority of Muslims in Saskatoon and yet they don’t give their names.

Are these two groups actually one?  Why is The Third Way group so secretive?

3.  There is a chapter of the Muslim Student Association at the University of Saskatchewan.  The MSA was founded by members of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Frankly, I find the links to the Muslim Brotherhood to be worrisome.  Are they real?  I’m not sure but I’d rather be alert than caught unaware.

There is a deep rift in the local muslim community.  In the past, many Muslim immigrants moved to Canada for the freedoms and opportunities available here.  They are Canadians and Muslims.  More recent immigrants seem to want to import a fundamentalist version of Islam to Saskatoon.  They are Muslims living in Canada.  See the difference?  Are they attempting to impose their interpretation of Islam on other Muslims?  And where is the funding coming from for these new groups?

    Hello OP,

You seem to possess the literary expertise to be able to stir commotion yet again in this fragile community of ours, but can you please, please, please answer this one very very very simple question:

What is “wrong” in Misbah School (actually Muslim children) from operating at the IAS?

Please don’t be pathetic in your answer as was your above post, no offence, but I found no substance in it whatsoever – do you really understand the “right of religion” and expression in Canada?

Get a life real fast, don’t adopt a lifestyle that is directed to destroy the future of Muslim Children in Saskatoon.

I am not a Muslim btw, but seriously, in our Christian Community here in Saskatoon, the idea of bringing up our children, our future, never spawns arguments and lacerations within our community, its a unanimous agreement.

That’s Christianity of course, I thought Islam was similar, am I wrong?

    Sincerely,

I think I know who the two of you are. One of you is just fulfilling a promise at the IAS: that you were going to make life HELL for all of the stupid people in the IAS, SMS, and weekend school. Luckily and thankfully, you are not the creator of hell; otherwise everyone you’ve met and had problems with, including people who opened their hearts and homes for you and you ended up stabbing them in the back will end up in your created hell, under your jurisprudence, SMS students included. I suggest you make a documentary of this exchange between “us” and “them”, may be that will land you a Pulitzer Award. Good luck living a schizophrenic life, you, no, the other you, no your first you will not, I repeat: WILL NOT last long living a healthy life unless you repent to Your Lord and seek help; Do you sleep? When you put your head on your pillow do you really have a clear conscience? how many people have you harmed and are still harming? now you are including children this struggle that you have created within yourself? I doubt that. When I read your answers I pray that you do not teach this habit of ambiguity, and split personality to your children, do not force them to be what they are not and will never be. Most importantly, do not teach your children to hate…This is the true definition of terrorism.

Finally, an admission from you that they have something to do with what you are doing. Enjoy their company, maybe one day you will be one additional victim of their own greed. Oh may be not, since you are canadian, they will treat you with more respec than they treat muslims. It is really ironic. You accuse other organizations of being secretive, yet you utilize the very same tactic. Equally ironic is the fact that “they” seemed to spearhead a rally the past winter. When the time came, they distanced themselves from the crowd and acted as shepards hording goats, not with sticks, but with cameras, proving the point that you removed ealy this morning that “they” are above all, and every one else must be subordiantes. When asked if s/he could say a few words, their reply was that s/he had soft voice. They never participated in the rally, and I am sure they will make some money out of it. The next day we saw the picture on your website with all the hallucingenic comments.
“They” did it agin. This time, the details that you, you, or the other you know are very specific. Only a selected few people knew of them, yet we see them here. “they” did a good job in feeding you the information, equally exposing themselves yet further. I would like you to let them know that they can not hide any more. They are well known to all the community. The whole community is aware of the dangers that “they” will pose to them. I will not rest untill I fully expose them to the whole world, if need be.
Good luck in learning to be fair and democratic, in being a real canadian.

So much talk and so few facts.

I was at the rally on my own initiative as part of a widespread attempt by bloggers to document anti-Israel rallies. The rally was advertised via e-mail and in the newspaper and I assumed that the IAS was the major sponsor.

The “details” in my posts all come from widely distributed e-mails and/or the websites of the various organizations referenced.

If you truly represent the “whole community” (which I doubt), why not use your name instead of slandering someone else?

Why don’t you use your real identity instead of faking being someone else?

This has not become an issue of SMS, IAS or SMF, but this goes beyond that. This is obvious hatred towards a GROUP of people and not the organizations.

Shame on you. To put out your anger on entire organizations that only do GOOD to this community.

Why do each of you have so much anger and hatred towards two people? If a majority of the community supports the SMS and it’s goals, then why does it matter if a few do not?

You see, when a minority goes against the majority, prepare to expect some sins taking place. Counter-culturing does have its consequences.

Like Yusuf-Al-Qaradawi once stated to the Ayatullaah of the Shias back in the day, it is wrong to spread your ideology in lands where that ideology is fiercely opposed. Its simple really, but some people are relentless in dividing communities I guess.

My question: How is it that you know so much about the Muslims in Saskatoon?

I’m curious. Supporters of the SMS, especially those who want the SMS to move into the Islamic Centre, claim to speak for all or most Muslims. So, why so hostile towards two individuals?

  21. May 8, 2009 12:43 am

    I will use simple math:

    Which number is higher?

    2 or 190?

More than 190members elected the new IAS executives. Only one week later the 2 were not happy about the choice of 190. The 2 called the 190 “stupid”, “incompetent”, “absurd” and treated one elected person with undignified manner. Does that satiate your inquisitive mind?

  22. May 8, 2009 1:10 am

    Michele,

Feel free to delete this message, but I want to suggest something. One of the problems that hurts many communities is when you have people who claim to part of the community, but really are on the outside and do not know it, trying to suggest or advise the community on what is good for them. I am sure you do not have bad intentions, but judging by your questions about SMF, MSA, SMS and any other group, it’s abundantly clear that you are kind of on the outside looking in. The only thing I recommend you do is go and talk directly with those organizations and get some basics down. After you have done that, you might even delete some of your own posts. Just a kind suggestion.

  28. Nose Nerves permalink

Well my understanding is that Taqqiyah is seen to Sunnis as being a hypocrite, it is not even part of the Sunni ideology to indulge in taqqiyism.

Taqqiyah is not even part of Sunnism actually.

It is, however, a significant part of a Shia’s life. I guess hypocrisy becomes vital at times no?

Quote from AhlelBayt.com, renowned, authentic Shia Web base.

In Tafseer al-Askari which the Shia adhere to, we read the following commentary:

“Taqiyyah is a distinguishing factor between a Shia and a Sunni…one who abstains from Taqiyyah has commited an unforgiveable sin…A believer who does not do Taqiyyah is like a body without a head…Taqiyyah is the best amongst all deeds…A Shia, acting upon Taqiyyah, performed Salah behind a hypocrite (Sunni) Imam upon which the Imam commented that the angels of the seven planets and skies are sending salutations upon you and curses upon the Imam behind whom you performed Salah. A reward of 700 Salah will be recorded for the one Salah which you performed through Taqiyyah.” (Tafseer al-Askari)

As you can see, “taqiyyah is a distinguishing factor between a Shia and a Sunni”.

Meaning Shia do it, Sunni don’t.

Religion should not preach hypocrisy – giving me the sense that Shiism is not a modest one for sure. I heard they curse people everytime they pray… what’s the point of praying lol?

Sunni practice taqiyya…of course they do:

“Let not the believers take for friends or helpers unbelievers rather than believers. If any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah; except by way of precaution, that ye may guard yourselves from them” (Qur’an 3:28).

The Sunni Qur’an commentator Ibn Kathir explains that in this verse “Allah prohibited His believing servants from becoming supporters of the disbelievers, or to take them as comrades with whom they develop friendships, rather than the believers.” However, exempted from this rule were “those believers who in some areas or times fear for their safety from the disbelievers. In this case, such believers are allowed to show friendship to the disbelievers outwardly, but never inwardly. For instance, Al-Bukhari recorded that Abu Ad-Darda’ said, ‘We smile in the face of some people although our hearts curse them.’ Al-Bukhari said that Al-Hasan said, ‘The Tuqyah [taqiyyah] is allowed until the Day of Resurrection.'”

I truly believe there should be resistance to their idealogogy at every level of social and political pocesses in Saskatchewan. Islam beliefs and practices are diametrically opposed to the democratic values we enjoy and have no place in civilized society. I’m interested in starting a grass roots movement to resist Islam and the muslim spread in Canada. Recent events in Europe and the US has convinced me that there is a problem and an immediate response is needed.
