We’re constantly being told that to lose weight we should avoid fat. Especially animal fat. If we eat lots and lots of vegetables, we will be thin and trim.
So why are cows fat?

Dairy cattle don’t tend to be fat. It is beef cattle, intended for slaughter, that are fat. Because they are fed high carbohydrate, grain-rich diets such as corn and barley.
I think that’s normal for the cows to be fat, if they are thin that’s not right..
The jersey in the photo is a nice size – good body condition score. Look at the hips. The big abdomen is not fat, it is internal organs such as the rumen, abomasum and intestines.
Oh, I know that they aren’t “fat” like people are fat but they do have fat and they only eat plants.
MKSOL — The point isn’t that cows should be thinner. The point is that eating fat doesn’t make people fat. Eating carbohydrates makes people fat.
Where do you think those nice layers of fat in a juicy slice of prime rib come from?
i love your cattle
Oops. Sorry about the hotlinked photo. That was before I knew better.
